Automatic Renewals
JCLC is unveiling a new feature that makes manually renewing books, CDs, and DVDs a thing of the past. As of August 1, 2018 any non-digital item checked out at a JCLC location will be renewed automatically at the end of its lending period.
You still can renew items manually by using My Account or by calling the library.
There are a few exceptions. Items won’t be renewed if:
•Another patron places a reserve on that item
•The item has reached its maximum number of renewals (2 for most items)
•Your account has accrued $5.01 or more in fines
•If the item is not renewable
•Your account activity has been blocked
•The item is an eBook
You will be notified by the courtesy email notice that your item has been automatically renewed. If you do not receive courtesy email notices, you will not be notified. You will be alerted with the standard notice, however, when the item is overdue.
Catalog System Backups are scheduled beginning at 10:00 p.m.,
Monday-Saturday.

Expired Cards (Registration has expired)
Full-Service Library cards expire two years from when issued or
renewed. To renew your library card you may go to any public library
in Jefferson County. Tell a staff member that you would like to
renew your library card. You will need your photo ID. If your
current address is not on your photo ID, you will need to show proof
of your address. A current utility bill is the best way to show
proof of your address. You may renew
online or by calling your local
library.
Do not throw away your card.
eCards expire after one month.
History of Checked Out Items
The library's system does not keep a history of what people have checked out
in the past. It only keeps a record of what is currently checked out and
items with problems, such as fines.
You may choose to opt in to My Reading History. It allows you to keep
a record of your checkouts. As the card holder, only you have access to
your history, you may delete any or all of your checkout records, and
you may opt out at any time. Please note that the library routinely
erases checkout records for privacy reasons, and by opting in to this
feature, you are choosing to retain the information.
