In June the Jefferson County Library Cooperative presents author and nationally renowned storyteller Carmen Agra Deedy. She will present programs at six area libraries. Ms. Deedy, who has been featured on National Public Radio, entertains thousands of adults and children alike each year with her personal stories of growing up Cuban in Decatur, Georgia combined with a generous sprinkling of classic folktales.

Ms. Deedy is the published author of many children’s books including The Library Dragon, The Yellow Star and Treeman.

The programs are age appropriate for kindergarten age-adults only. All programs are free, call the local library for details. For more information refer to the Calendar of Events at www.jclc.org.

The Storytelling Festivals with Carmen Agra Deedy are made possible, in part, by the Jefferson County Commission through the Jefferson County Community Arts Fund administered by the Cultural Alliance of Greater Birmingham.

The Jefferson County Library Cooperative (JCLC) is a non-profit organization composed of the 40 public libraries throughout Jefferson County. These include the 18 municipal libraries, the 21 libraries in the Birmingham Public Library System, along with the Birmingham Botanical Gardens Library. The mission behind the JCLC is to link together the member libraries to provide better, more efficient centralized services for all county residents.
