Exporting Marked Records
The Export Marked Records feature can be used to create a bibliography while performing
a search. The user can "mark" items for export by clicking in the box to
the left of the particular item (in the column headed "Mark"). Once all
desired items have been marked, click on the Save Marked Records button to save these
items to the export list. Titles can be added to this list at any time during the
search.
After the records have been marked, a separate option is used to export the marked
records in one of several formats. Two options control the types of export formats (Full
Display, Brief Display, End-Note, or Pro-Cite) and delivery methods (E-MAIL or Local Disk)
available to the user.
Export: "Format Of List"
- Full Display
All fields in the Bibliographic records are output as ASCII text. Each
field is labeled with its label (e.g., AUTHOR, TITLE). A phrase "Record x of
y" is output before each record.
- Brief Display
Only the following fields from the Bibliographic record as ASCII
text: a (AUTHOR), t (TITLE), p (IMPRINT). Each field is identified by its label (e.g.,
TITLE). "Record x of y" will be output at the start of each record.
- End-Note
This format is suitable for import into the
End Note "Refer" bibliographic software. In this format, each exported field is
on its own line; each line begins with a percent sign plus a letter code identifying the
field.
- Pro-Cite
This format is suitable for import into PBS
"Pro-Cite" software. It is a comma-delimited format (that is, fields are
separated by commas, and the position of a field in the list determines what the field
is). Records are output in what Pro-Cite calls the "Books-Long" format.
Click on the Export Saved List to export the list to an email address or to a disk.
If the user does not wish to export the list, click on the Clear Saved Messages.
The list can be edited by clicking in the Mark box beside each title and then clicking
on the Remove Marked Records From This List button.
